First off… I’m a fairytale lover. I grew up in Denmark and Sweden, so that meant getting tales of the Norse Gods, the Brother Grimm’s and H.C Andersen in from childhood. I can get lost into the amazing worlds, doesn’t matter how many times I’ve read Little Red Riding Hood, The Ugly Duckling… I disappear.
But what happens AFTER the Happily Ever After? What if a spell from a Fairy Godmother went terrible wrong, and somehow the characters from old stories suddenly appears into OUR world? How will they react? Will they be able to adapt?
Tess Little (a.k.a Red) is one that came over when the spell went wrong. But gone is the little scared girl, and met one of the Top Enforcers in the Chicago branch of the Fairytale Management Authority. Bad ass with leather, combat boots and guns is her style, tucking away her heart and soul, not letting anyone getting too close to her.
Something is wrong in Chicago though – Tales are being murdered, at first glance there’s no connection between them, but when Red is put on the case with Nate Grimm, things change and the danger suddenly comes way to close to home. Will they be able to find the culprit before innocents are being accused of being the murder?
I absolutely loved Red! It has every character from old books and fairytales that I love, from Elizabeth Darcy, Cinderella to Vlad. But the characters we’ve come to know and love/hate, has changed. They all had to adapt to the new world, some with greater success than others.
Red was so feisty, stubborn, hard ass, and yet a total softie on the inside. Her heart was broken a long time ago, and she never truly came back after that. Tess amazes me time after time, and I fell for her personality.
Nate Grimm is a dashing man, but with more dark secrets than you’ll ever truly want to know. Nate isn’t an Enforcer, he’s a Reaper. He’s mysterious, dark and sexy as hell. And frustrating lol
I found myself turning page after page (well, scrolling, but you get my point), getting drawn into the book. The little clues left here and there, the twist and turns into the story, the building attraction between Tess and Nate, the scary creature running amok killing people. The emotional overloads for Tess when confronting her past. I only have one word; AMAZING.
The end is freaking awesome, I LOVED the way Nate reacted and the fight itself was…. Intense, heart breaking, made my hands shake and I’m quite sure I forgot to breathe at one point.
If you like fairytales with a new twist, mysteries, action and pure awesomeness, Kate SeRine’s Transplanted Tales Series is definitely for you!! Can’t wait to dig more into this series!!!
“My name is Tess Little. But everyone calls me Red.”
Once upon a time, a spell went awry, stranding Make Believe characters in the ordinary world. Since then, Tess “Red” Little—a/k/a Little Red Riding Hood—has worked as an Enforcer for the Chicago branch of the Fairytale Management Authority. But, consider yourself warned—she’s not just some waif with a basket of goodies. All grown up and with nothing to lose, a gun and combat boots is more her style. And Red’s new assignment threatens to be short on happily ever afters…
Someone is murdering transplanted Tales in gruesome fashion. The list of fictional characters capable of such grisly acts is short and includes more than one of Red’s old flames. And if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s another complication, in the form of sexy, enigmatic Nate Grimm, the FMA’s lead detective and part-time Reaper. Used to following her own rules and living life on the edge, Red has managed to avoid taking on a partner until now. But Nate’s dark side makes him perfect for a case like this. That is, if she can trust him. Because if there’s one thing Red knows for sure, it’s that believing in the wrong person can have big, bad consequences…
Kate SeRine (pronounced “serene”) faithfully watched weekend monster movie marathons while growing up, each week hoping that maybe this time the creature du jour would get the girl. But every week she was disappointed. So when she began writing her own stories, Kate vowed that her characters would always have a happily ever after. And, thus, her love for paranormal romance was born.
Kate is the author of the award-winning Transplanted Tales series, available from Kensington Books. She lives in a smallish, quintessentially Midwestern town with her husband and two sons, who share her love of storytelling. She never tires of creating new worlds to share and is even now working on her next project.
