Release Day Review & Giveaway: Taken by Felicia Starr

You must betray your heart and walk amongst the darkness in order to find the truest light. Opening her eyes to an imposing prison of complete darkness, Kasha is accused of possessing powers and abilities she had no previous knowledge of until the moment she comes face to face with herself while meditating. Haunted by memories strung together by lies and deceit, she soon discovers that maybe her beloved grandmother kept a few secrets she hadn't been aware of. Secrets that could be her salvation... or her undoing. As she struggles to control her newfound powers, only time will tell if they will be enough to help her decipher who has imprisoned her or what they want from her. She must search for the answers and the freedom she so desperately desires. Could a handsome guy who vows to help her get away prove to be the man of her dreams... or perhaps her worst nightmare? Not knowing who to trust, she must find a way to escape before she pays the ultimate price and finds herself taken by the darkness.

Oh wow. This story truly had it all; danger, despair, torture, love, friendship, hate, manipulation, dreams, hope, magic and supernatural beings.

We follow Kasha in her imprisonment, she has absolutely no idea where she is, or why someone have taken her. She can barely remember what happened before she was kidnapped. In the beginning there are nothing but darkness, some food from time to time, and Kasha can’t do much but to rest and sleep. If she didn’t, she would go insane.

During her time in the darkness, she finds herself being able to project, to let her soul/essence travel away from her body and finds friends and one, maybe two possible love interests that way. Maybe they will be able to figure out why someone is keeping her and what they want.

During Taken, Kasha goes through memories, talks to her dead grandmother, learn secrets about herself and her ancestors, and most importantly, she figures out exactly how strong she is.

The things that Kasha goes through at some points in this book is NOT for the fainthearted. It was amazingly written, but scary as hell. I was so tense when reading certain parts, I’m surprised my muscles aren’t more stiff and achy today. I am impressed by the world that Felicia has created. I’m not sure I can express myself clearly. I love that Kasha doesn’t truly know what she is, that she has to learn it from strangers, I’m in ave over her strength. I love that there are supernatural beings in there that has their own abilities as well, I absolutely LOVE the whole concept with the story tellers. Amazing.

Clues are being dropped along the way through Taken, and I enjoyed the ride. The ending is absolutely fantastic, and certainly NOT what I expected, but VERY well made! I am looking forward to read more by Felicia Starr, and luckily my kindle is well prepared. *grins*
